The Swedish Institute (SI) awards fully funded scholarships for full-time, one- or two-year master’s studies at Swedish universities starting in autumn 2027. Vietnam is one of 34 eligible countries, by citizenship; you do not need to live there at the time of application.
The scholarship
- Covers English-taught master’s programmes in governance, public health, entrepreneurship and innovation, and STEM. SI publishes the list of eligible programmes on 13 November 2026.
- Full tuition fees (paid by SI directly to the university each semester), a monthly allowance of SEK 12,000 and a one-time travel grant of SEK 15,000 (not for students already living in Sweden).
- Membership of the SI Network for Global Professionals and later the Sweden Alumni Network.
- It does not include insurance, extra grants for family members or the university application fee, and it does not allow changes of programme or extensions.
Requirements
- Citizenship of one of the 34 eligible countries, Vietnam among them, and liability to pay tuition fees in Sweden.
- For Vietnamese citizens: at least 3,000 hours of work experience before February 2027, accumulated with a maximum of three employers. Employment, freelancing and entrepreneurship count.
- Demonstrated leadership experience from work, entrepreneurship or civil society.
- Admission (or conditional admission) to an eligible master’s programme on the University Admissions announcement day, 1 April 2027.
- Not eligible: current students or degree holders of a Swedish university, people who have lived in Sweden for two years or more, previous SI scholarship holders, and holders of Swedish or EU/EEA citizenship or the Swedish residence permits listed on the page.
- Application in English: CV on the SI template (maximum three pages), signed and stamped proof of work and leadership experience, two letters of reference, a passport or ID copy, and a motivation text.
