Euroculture is a two-year Erasmus Mundus master’s in the humanities and social sciences, run by a consortium of European universities. Students choose a partner university to enrol at, Uppsala University in Sweden among them (start around 1 September). The scholarship round for the 2027-2029 intake opens on 15 October 2026.

The scholarship

  • The Erasmus Mundus scholarship covers all participation costs and waives tuition fees, with EUR 1,400 per month for living costs over 24 months (EUR 33,600 in total) and health insurance.
  • Applicants without a scholarship can still join as self-funded students with later deadlines (1 May 2027 recommended for non-EU/EEA applicants).
  • There is no application fee.

Requirements

  • An accepted English test (for example IELTS Academic overall 6.5, no section below 6.5) or a listed exemption; only results from the providers listed on the programme website are accepted.
  • Applicants of most nationalities are eligible for the scholarship.
  • A first higher education degree or recognised equivalent by the scholarship deadline, in a relevant humanities or social science field (for example international relations, European studies, history, sociology, political science, international or European law). An official document confirming completion is enough; the diploma itself is not required by then.
  • A complete application through the Euroculture Online Application Tool, with two referees answering an online questionnaire.
  • People who already received an Erasmus Mundus scholarship at Joint Master or PhD level are not eligible for another one.

About the employer

Euroculture is delivered by the universities of Groningen, Strasbourg, Olomouc, Uppsala, Udine, Krakow and Gottingen. At Uppsala the programme leads to a Master of Arts in Theology with Euroculture as the main field of study.

Salary and deadline

  • Complete applications for scholarship consideration are due on 15 January 2027. The page does not state a closing time.
