EDISS is a two-year Erasmus Mundus master’s in software engineering and data science. The 7th intake (2027-2029, starting August 2027) has three separate application rounds; the first is for Erasmus Mundus and EDISS scholarships.
The scholarship
- Round 1: Erasmus Mundus and EDISS scholarships, from 08:00 on 16 November 2026 to 15:00 on 12 January 2027 (Helsinki time).
- Round 2: tuition fee waiver scholarships, from 08:00 on 25 February 2027 to 15:00 on 11 March 2027. Round 3 is for self-funded students, 6 to 15 April 2027. Each round needs its own application.
- The pages read do not state the scholarship amounts for the 2027-2029 intake; see the programme page when the round opens.
Requirements
- Admitted students must have graduated before the academic year starts (August 2027) to be allowed to begin.
- The programme invites top students of all nationalities, and EMJM scholarships can go to students from all over the world. The consortium keeps a geographical balance: no more than 10% of the scholarships over four years go to one nationality.
- A bachelor’s or equivalent degree in computer science, software engineering or an equivalent subject, and proof of English proficiency.
- An online application on Studyinfo.fi, with a motivation video and academic recommendation letters.
- People who already received an Erasmus Mundus Master or Joint Doctorate scholarship are not eligible for another.
About the employer
EDISS is delivered by four universities: Åbo Akademi (Finland; first year in Turku), the University of the Balearic Islands (Spain), the University of L’Aquila (Italy) and Mälardalen University (Sweden). The second year is at a partner university, depending on the chosen specialisation.
