SIRI has just announced two changes with specific application deadlines concerning applications for accompanying family members and the assessment of salary levels in residence and work permit applications. Vietnamese individuals preparing to submit new or renewal applications should pay special attention to the two dates: October 1, 2026 and October 14, 2026.

Summary: Applications falling within SIRI’s salary assessment scope submitted from October 1, 2026, will be compared against Q2 2026 income statistics. From October 14, 2026, individuals falling under the scope of MF4 must use the digital form.

1. Digital MF4 Becomes Mandatory from October 14, 2026

On September 14, 2026, the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) launched the MF4 application form on its digital system.

MF4 is used in specific cases when an individual applies for a residence permit as an accompanying family member of a person who has been granted permanent residence based on work or study in Denmark. This form is also used to renew an existing permit for an accompanying family member when the sponsor has obtained permanent residence or Danish citizenship based on prior work or study in Denmark.

Key Dates to Remember

  • Until the end of October 13, 2026, applicants may still temporarily use the paper MF4 form and submit it directly or via SIRI’s contact form.
  • From October 14, 2026, individuals in this category must use the digital MF4.
  • If a paper MF4 form is submitted after this date, SIRI will, in principle, reject the application.
  • Also from October 14, 2026, individuals falling under the scope of MF4 may no longer use MF1 or MF2 in place of MF4.

Who Should Pay Special Attention?

This change may concern spouses, partners, or accompanying children of individuals who have transitioned from a residence permit based on work or study to permanent residence or Danish citizenship.

For initial applications, the person who has obtained permanent residence must also continue to meet the renewal conditions of their previous permit or hold a qualifying job under a current employment scheme.

MF4 is a procedure handled by SIRI for accompanying family members in specific cases. It should not be assumed that all applications involving spouses or children use MF4, as some family reunification cases fall under the jurisdiction of the Danish Immigration Service and follow different procedures.

What Should Applicants Do?

  • Check whether the application falls under the jurisdiction of SIRI or the Danish Immigration Service.
  • Identify the correct form type before paying fees or submitting documents.
  • From October 14, 2026, only use the digital MF4 if it falls within the scope of application.
  • Save receipts, case IDs, and copies of submitted documents.
  • Avoid submitting paper MF4 forms close to or after the transition deadline.

2. New Reference Salary Statistics Applicable to Applications Submitted from October 1, 2026

On September 17, 2026, SIRI announced that it would use the Q2 2026 income statistics from the Confederation of Danish Employers — Dansk Arbejdsgiverforening, abbreviated as DA — to assess residence and work permit applications submitted from October 1, 2026.

Application Deadlines Based on Submission Date

  • Applications submitted from July 1 to September 30, 2026, will be assessed according to Q1 2026 income statistics.
  • Applications submitted from October 1, 2026, will be assessed according to Q2 2026 income statistics.
  • SIRI expects the next update to apply from January 1, 2027.

There is no single “new salary level” applicable to all employees. When using DA’s statistics, SIRI considers the job title and content, the six-digit DISCO code, relevant years of experience, and the actual region where the work is performed.

The proposed salary must at least meet the lower quartile — i.e., the 25th percentile — for the corresponding job, experience, and region in the applicable statistics. If the fixed place of work differs from the company’s CVR address, the contract must state the address and P-number of the actual workplace.

Which Permit Schemes May Be Affected?

The salary condition corresponding to Danish standards applies to new and renewal applications under the following schemes:

  • Pay Limit Scheme.
  • Supplementary Pay Limit Scheme.
  • Related branches of the Fast-track Scheme.
  • Researcher Scheme.
  • Positive List for People with a Higher Education.
  • Positive List for Skilled Work.
  • Special Individual Qualifications Scheme.

This condition also applies to some applications for supplementary work permits and separate work permits for accompanying family members.

Which Amounts Does SIRI Include in the Salary?

When assessing salary, SIRI primarily considers fixed, guaranteed, and actually paid amounts, including fixed salary, contributions to labor market pension funds, and holiday pay in accordance with applicable regulations.

Benefits such as meal allowances, accommodation, or in-kind benefits may be provided additionally by the employer but are not included in demonstrating that the salary meets Danish standards. Commissions or uncertain bonuses are also generally not included in the recognized salary.

What Should Employees and Employers Do?

  • Accurately identify the job title, job content, and six-digit DISCO code.
  • Verify the number of years of experience used for comparison.
  • Accurately identify the region and actual location where the work is performed.
  • Compare with the statistics effective on the application submission date.
  • Clearly distinguish fixed salary from bonuses, commissions, and in-kind benefits.
  • Ensure the contract fully specifies the salary, pension, working hours, place of work, and other necessary conditions.

An incomplete application should not be submitted merely to meet the September 30 deadline. An application lacking information or using an incorrect occupational code may entail greater risks than the difference between the two statistical periods.
