SINTEF Industry, Department of Biotechnology and Nanomedicine in Trondheim, is hiring a Senior Scientist in bioprocess engineering and scale-up. The role suits an experienced fermentation researcher who wants to move processes from lab to pilot and industrial scale for the bioeconomy.
The role
- Develop, optimise and scale up fermentation processes for converting renewable feedstocks into chemicals, biofuels and feed ingredients
- Plan and run pilot- and demonstration-scale fermentation campaigns
- Support commissioning of new pilot fermentation facilities at SINTEF Tiller
- Supervise and mentor PhD candidates and junior researchers
- Contribute to process modelling and techno-economic assessments
- Collaborate with industrial partners and large projects such as PYROCO2 and SFI Industrial Biotechnology
Requirements
- PhD in Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology or a related field
- Documented experience developing and scaling up fermentation processes
- Knowledge of both upstream and downstream processing
- Understanding of deploying bioprocesses at commercial scale
- Fluent English, written and spoken
